In the city of Fez in the north-west of Morocco, a Jew named Binyamin Serrero, aged 74 , was murdered last night (Monday) after an unknown person banged with a metal hammer on his head. Harav Ferrero also served as the Gabbai of the shull.
According to reports, Serrero was critically wounded from the stroke, and died of his wounds on the way to receive medical treatment at the University Hospital named after the Second King Hassan. The murdered fled from the scene.
A security factor in Morocco told the media in the country that Harav Ferrero worked as a rent collector for shops under Jewish ownership. According to them, his work was in the neighborhood of El-Malah in which Jews reside.
The attorney general of Morocco instructed to open an investigation, and to dissect the murdered Jew's body.
The Moroccan police started investigating the circumstances of the event.
The international unit of Zaka made contact with the Jewish Joint and with representatives from Morocco, in order to organize the burial of the niftar. His levaya took place today (Tues.) in Morocco.
