Rockland District Attorney's Office, New York, announced yesterday (Tuesday) that the family of the 10-year-old boy who was beaten by the administrative director of the Talmud Torah in Satmar Monsey suddenly refuses to cooperate in an investigation against the director.

Earlier this week it was reported that the director was charged with assault after a severe beating a child of 10, a number of times.

Principal of Satmar cheder arrested "brutally beat a child"

According to the report, the director hit the child strongly on the left side which caused the eye, ear and cheek of the child to swell. According to the evidence the director slapped the child after he claimed that he harmed the services in the institution.

The director was charged with third-degree assault and attempt to harm a helpless child and his trial date was set for April 4th. But, "for unknown reasons, the family refuses to cooperate," said the prosecution.

A police official said that "the possibility that parents are afraid to continue the complaint, after having threatened by elements in the haredi community, is being checked.

Central District attorney added: "To advance the investigation, we'll hear firsthand what happened."

According to him, if within 60 days they do not receive first-hand evidence, charges will be canceled.
