Borough Park: Haredi tried to kidnap a 10 year old- and arrested

Chaim Fried, Orthodox 53 year old from Brooklyn, was arrested near his residence, when he tried to kidnap a 10 year old girl in his car.
Last Thursday, at about 8:30 am, Fried parked his vehicle on 18th Avenue corner of 2nd East in Borough Park and waited. According to police, when he noticed a girl about 10 years old walking alone in the street Fried pulled at her hand and said: "Come with me", as he dragged her to his car.
The girl gathered her courage, she pushed him - and ran away.
Fried did not give up, and at the same place the next morning, he waited again. The girl walked again in the same place and at the same time, but this time police ambushed him, handcuffed him, and he was arrested.
On Friday, he was accused of trying to kidnap and unlawful imprisonment, and reckless endangerment of a child of 10.
He was brought before a judge and was released after he had deposited a guarantee of $ 2,500. The trial will be held in a few weeks.
A local activist told B'Chadrei Charedim: "On Friday morning we received a phone from the family of Fried. They told us that he was arrested and asked for help. We turned to the police, where they told us he was accused of kidnapping a child. We recruited lawyers for him to clarify the matter and obtained his release on bail.
"That's our job," added the activist. "We have excellent connections with the police, and often we get instant information about the Orthodox detainees. We reach the place, trying transfer to the detainee tallit and tefillin, kosher food and legal assistance."
