This will be probably the opening salvo in local elections to be held in about six months. It will also be the first test of the two leaders of Shas, Eli Yishai and Aryeh Deri for this election.
It turns out that the city of Elad does not stop producing titles. Nearly 400 city employees, most of them Sephardic, are furious for a long time about the conduct of the municipality, and a few months before the elections, no one at Shas would belittle a stock of a thousand voices in the party.

At the same time, Cohen contacted the Histadrut region with a request for permission to declare a labor dispute. Once the region confirmed that, the monthly meeting was held as customary in which leaders led by Chairman Ofer Eini decide all aspects of the conflicts throughout the country. Yesterday (Monday) meeting was held and it was decided to allow council workers to strike. Cohen will naturally wait until reaching the same time period end of the Tribunal labor negotiations between the parties, but in his opinion, as he sees it, "The city is not cooperating," so there is no chance to reach common ground.
Cohen involved simultaneously the two leaders of Shas and sent letters to both theiroffices. This morning, at 11, he met with MK Eli Yishai his Knesset office. "I explained to him that the city is destroyed, he must intervene." When I asked if he brought up a demand concerning the identity of the next mayor, he said no emphatically. "No, I do not get involved in politics, I want to take care of employees and requires of Yishai to come and make an arrangement."
The letter was sent also to the office of MK Aryeh Deri who will meet with the chairman of the workers.
Next Tuesday Yishai also promised to get come to the area to inspect the events.
