Rabbi Pinchas Goldschmidt of Moscow, who is also president of the Conference of European Rabbis, is absorbing another blow today and more difficult than the last mouth sucking case.
Badatz members of Eideh Charedis community have signed a letter sent today to the Rabbi of Berlin, Rabbi Yehuda Teichtel, with the full support and the step taken atthe circumcision conducted by his son a few weeks ago.
In recent days German lawyers are studying the complaint against Rabbi Teichtel, that he held circumcision for his son, sucking mouth, what is the apparent contradiction to German law. After publication of the complaint, Rabbi Goldschmidt publicly stressed criticism against Rabbi Teichtel in an interview with the popular German newspaper Berliner Zeitung, sparking outrage in the rabbinic world in Europe.
The letter comes just days after suddenly on the other side of the political divide - rabbis, the Chief Rabbinate sent an official letter, and its position in favor of the existence of mouth sucking except in cases where the mohel is sick.
The letter, signed by Rabbi Moshe Sternbuch, and members of Badatz - Rabbis Avraham Yitzchak Ulman, Naftali Hertzka Frankel, Yehoshua Razanbargar, and Yaakov Mendel Yurowitz - rabbis raise again the importance of the existence of circumcision with mouth sucking, especially. "I agree with members of the Badatz Shlita and strengthen those standing on guard for the word of mitzvah with all of Israel as they used a lot of thousand years and as we do with all Israel at Israeli Diaspora who carries out the commandments without any change."
