Old anti-tank mine exploded at noon near Moshav Yonatan in the southern Golan Heights during the routine removal of mines. Soldier of the IDF engineering corps was hit and killed. Army launched an investigation into the incident.

The mine which exploded at noon is targeted to hit tanks and has a volume of explosives larger than small mines that are supposed to harm humans.

The IDF said that a soldier who was training the Combat Engineering Corps was killed due to a mine explosion during an evacuation of the mine fields in the southern Golan Heights. Message was delivered to his family.

Ground Forces Commander, Major General Guy Tzur, appointed a team of experts led by Maj. Gen. to investigate the event.

The soldier, who joined the army a few months ago, made the task of removing mines as part of his training with his friends who arrived at the base for joint advanced training in engineering school.
