Asher against Fisher: "employ Haredim in Bank of Israel "

Words of the Governor of the Bank of Israel Stanley Fisher who ends his role, that the growth of the ultra-Orthodox public cannot continue, predictably generated a storm. MK Rabbi Yaakov Asher responded sharply to Fisher's words, and called him to first take care that the haredi public will be able to get a job at the Bank of Israel.

Recall Fisher said: "We have a demographic challenge: If current growth rates continue, the secular will become a minority in a few decades, and the process by which labor rate participation in a certain population is lower will turn into most of the population and cannot continue with the continued growth of living standards. Thankfully we have seen already changes in this area."

In response, MK Yaakov Asher: "it is very unfortunate that the outgoing Governor of the Bank of Israel Stanley Fisher joins the atmosphere various factors are trying to create around the Haredi sector.
"Demography is not built according to economic data; preferably Bank of Israel and Finance Ministry will take care of the Israeli economy by the means at their disposal."

"As to the Haredi community," added MK Asher who slightly stung Fisher: "he should take care of those people who go out to the labor market so they may be admitted in official work places, such as the Bank of Israel and the like, and the public which learns Torah he should leave alone. No through that will the country's economy be built.

Governer of the Bank of Israel reported to the remarks: "in the remarks last night presented by the Governor an IDC economic analysis only. These are the words the Governor said when granting titles of Orthodox students at Lustig on February 2012. The Governor stands behind these words as they are today:

"There is a part of the population, its growth rate relative to the rest of the general population is increasing, and the situation in which its part in the work force is very low cannot last - I used the word 'stop'. I did not say, or even think, the high growth rate of the ultra-Orthodox population, which is welcome. I referred to the low participation rate in the labor force, which cannot continue, and I pointed out that this is already beginning to change - you, the students who graduated here today, give proof of this."
