Report: Syrian government confirmed attacks in Golan Heights

Assad sent a message to Israel: in the next attack I'll respond by firing missiles • Northern Commander clarifies: "There's no fear of war" • conflicting reports on the death toll in Air Force attack in Damascus

The concern of combustion at the northern border of Israel has not yet faded: TV channel Al - Ahbariah, which is affiliated with the regime of President Bashar Assad, reported over yesterday that administration officials gave a 'green light' to military response against Israel. According to the report, a senior official confirmed to Syrian factions to hit the "occupied Golan Heights."

The newspaper A - Rai which appears in Kuwait, reported this morning that Assad sent a message to Israel through Moscow, in which he warns that any further attack in Syria will be considered a declaration of war. According to the report, Assad said that he deployed surface - surface and ground - air batteries intended to strike at Israeli targets. Soldiers stationed at the batteries received explicit instructions to operate without additional guidance in the event of an Israeli attack.

Meanwhile, an Israeli official told Reuters, that Israel made it clear to Assad that its attacks were not intended to weaken him in his war against the rebels, which is a Syrian internal issue – in which Israel does not intend to intervene. According to the source, which asked to remain anonymous, Israel refuses to take sides in the civil war in Syria for fear that it might actually increase the power of those Islamists hostile to Israel even more than the incumbent president.

Conflicting versions on the number killed in the attack

Yesterday it was decided to limit flights in the northern airspace until Thursday because of the tension. However, the Northern Command announced this morning that the airspace is expected to reopen in the next few hours for civilian flights.

U.S. intelligence officials told Reuters that Washington did not know about the attack before it took place in Syria, and was told only after it happened. With respect to Israel, the official said: "It would not be unusual on their part to take aggressive steps when there is a chance of sophisticated weapons systems would fall into the hands of organizations like Hezbollah."

A senior official at a military facility bombed in Syria yesterday said in an interview with Russian RT that Israel used a new type of weapon, "The giant golden mushroom of fire that appeared teaches us about using diluted uranium shells."
