In the days when haredi Judaism is furious at the 'Jewish Home' party due to collaboration with 'Yesh Atid' in a series of moves that harms the Torah world, there are exceptions: in a meeting between MK Nissan Slomiansky, chairman of the Finance Committee, and Finance Minister Yair Lapid, the latter suggested to cancel the cuts for overseas students studying at religious Zionism institutions only.

Slomiansky refused to accept the proposed solution, and pressurized to cancel the cuts for all students from abroad studying at Torah institutions - not only in Zionistic ones. According to him, one should look at all foreign students attending yeshivos with a national - Zionist vision - and in terms of absorption of immigrants.

The reason for this, according to Slomiansky, is because foreign students studying in Israel normally stay in Israel, for the most part, even if they return to their home countries - they finally return to Israel after they started a family.

In addition, the yeshivos attended by foreign members are institutions which bring the most aliyah, more than any other bodies that deal with bringing immigrants to Israel, and for the cheapest price.

Minister Lapid asked for time to investigate the issue further.
