Obama has declared a limited war on terrorism: "I'll attack the people of ISIL in Syria and Iraq from the air", said tonight (Thursday) President Barack Obama, in a special speech on the anniversary of the Twin Towers attack.

"The United States will fulfill a senior military role in the global coalition formed to support Iraqi forces fighting against ISIL. We will hunt the terrorists who threaten our country, wherever they are, that means I will not hesitate to take action against ISIL in Syria as well as Iraq. This is a core principle of my presidency. If you threaten America, you will not find a safe haven."

However, he added, "We can not be used as substitutes of our partners in the Arab countries in securing the area, though the American force has an advantage."

Obama announced that he would send 475 military advisers to Iraq, but said: "It will take time to eradicate a cancer such as ISIL. I want to say to the American people that this effort will be different compared to the war we held in Iraq and Afghanistan. It will not involve American soldiers to fight on foreign soil".

"We can not erase all trace of evil from the world and small groups of killers have a capacity to do great harm. That was the case before September 11th and that is the case today, which is why we must remain vigilant as threats emerge."

Obama defended Islam and said, "ISIL is not Islamic, no religion condones the killing of innocents. ISIL is a terrorist organization, plain and simple. The sole vision of this organization is to slaughter anyone who gets in its way. The organization members are killing children."

USAF has reportedly already attacked in Iraq. According to the news agency, the Air Force conducted 154 air strikes against ISIL targets in Iraq last month.
