Italian tragedy: A Jewish couple suffered gas leak
Jewish elderly couple vacationing in Rome suffered a gas leak, 76-year-old husband died and his 70-year-old wife was taken to hospital in serious condition

Tragedy in Italy: a pair of elderly Jews from the United States was found this morning (Friday) in an apartment in Rome, when the husband is dead and the woman is in critical condition.
This is a group of travelers who came to vacation in Italy, and slept in apartments in Rome. This morning, when the couple failed to appear, the organizers came to check their apartment.
When they knocked on the door and there was no answer, they went inside and found the couple when they are unconscious. The husband, 76 year old was pronounced dead. A woman of about 70 was taken to the hospital in critical condition when she suffers brain injury.
Eliyahu Eliovic media personality who is in contact with representatives of the local Jewish community, told behadrey haredim, that the couple were injured by home heating gas which leaked into the apartment as a result of a technical error.
Rabbi Menachem Lazar, Chabad's representative in Rome, is assisting and is in contact with the local authorities and the family from the United States. It is also being checked whether the couple have family members in Israel.
