Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will arrive today (Monday) in Rome, for a meeting with US Secretary of State, John Kerry.
They will discuss the Palestinian leadership's decision to request a special statement nu the UN Security Council on Wednesday, to establish a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, within two years.
Netanyahu wants the Americans to veto the Palestinian's suggestions, but the Americans refuse to do so for fear that it will harm the coalition they established for war against ISIS.
The Americans prefer therefore to form a softened US draft resolution for the establishment of a Palestinian state, but such a decision has not yet been formulated. The Palestinian statement to expedite the appeal to the UN was intended to put pressure on the Americans, to speed up their decision.
