The Supreme Court rejected the petition of Orthodox women who demanded women require a combination of ultra-Orthodox party's lists of the 20th Knesset elections.

The petition filed by Ruth Yehoshua, Emunah White, Sharon Friedman, Mazal Huri and WePower - Power of Women, was rejected by the judges of the Supreme Court Dr. Yoram Danziger, Uzi Fogelman and Menachem Mazuz. The petition requested the High Court to order the Central Election Commission to require the ultra-Orthodox parties, United Torah Judaism, Shas and Haam Itanu, to integrate women in their list.

Two weeks ago, the petitioners approached Election Commission chairman Justice Salim Jubran, to give an order haredi parties to integrate women on our list. The next day, Jubran rejected the petition. He explained this by saying that it is not his authority to order as demanded.

Last Thursday, the women decided to file a petition to the High Court in this matter. At the opening of the court stated that due to the very delay in filing the petition (8 days), it should be rejected.

"Currently we are only four days before the deadline for submission of lists of candidates for the Knesset. It is clear that in such a short inquiry cannot be held in this petition, the issue it raises is not simple, to say the least," wrote the judges.
