Cleared for publication: in a joint activity of the GSS and the Israeli police in the north, Maharan Yousuf Chachmi Khaladi, an Israeli citizen from Nazareth, who returned from the scene of fighting in Syria and Iraq, in which he participated as an ISIS fighter, was arrested about two weeks ago.

Khaladi, born in 1995, who was arrested during his return to Israel through Ben Gurion Airport, admitted during his interrogation at the GSS that before leaving he was exposed to online content and videos of ISIS, which deeply influenced him.

His investigation also revealed that in early October 2014 he went to Turkey, and after making contact with an ISIS through Facebook, he was instructed how to cross the border to Syria, with the help of a smuggler on behalf of ISIS.

After crossing the border, Khaladi reached the organization's representatives, and he was transferred to an absorption camp, where he met three Israelis, Yafia residents: Mohammad Saber Kanana, Mohammad Marwan Kilani and Hamza Majamsah. Recently the last returned to Israel, and currently is in detention until the end of proceedings, as part of the ongoing trial in the District Court in Nazareth, where he is accused of serious crimes of membership in ISIS, contacting a foreign agent, perpetrating a crime, and illegal departure to an enemy state.

After three weeks in the absorption camp, during which Khaladi passed physical fitness training, theoretical lessons of weapons and performed guard duty, he got wrote a post, like other recruits at the place.

Khaladi, who wanted to volunteer to serve in a special unit, was placed in a base at Fallujah in Iraq, where he underwent training in operating expedited weapons, after which he was sent to take part in the fighting. Khaladi attended by about five battles in Fallujah, and during the last battle, in which he planted explosive charges against Shiite forces, he was seriously wounded, apparently, during the air attack by coalition forces. Some of his friends in the fighting force were killed.

Khaladi was evacuated for medical treatment to a hospital in Fallujah, which is controlled by ISIS, and after about three weeks of recuperation and recovery he received a special permit to return to Syria to meet with his family.

IDF officials stress that the departure of Arab-Israelis to fighting arenas such as Syria and Iraq, is a very dangerous phenomenon, given that they are suffused in hostile elements to Israel, especially the activists of the "Global Jihad." In addition, those who leave undergo military training there, are exposed to the ideology of radical jihadists, and there is concern that they will be used by terrorists to carry out military operations against Israel, or obtain information on Israeli targets.

It should be mentioned that in addition to cases of other Israelis who went to fight in Syria, it became clear that exposure of young people to content and videos of ISIS on the Internet is a dangerous phenomenon and has far-reaching implications.

Today, 01/02/15, serious charges were filed in the Nazareth District Court against Khaladi of membership and activity in an illegal association, contacting a foreign agent, military training, travel abroad illegally and the prohibition of terrorist property transaction.
