"Under my administration billions of dollars were given to Israel's security. We share the goal that Iran does not have nuclear weapons," says US President Barack Obama to the news agency "Reuters".

"There is a fundamental difference of opinion about the way we will ensure that Iran does not develop nuclear weapons," Obama said, "Netanyahu thinks that the best way is to further sanctions or military action. But there is no expert on Iran or nuclear bomb who thinks that Iran will respond to further sanctions by elimination of its nuclear program.

"If Iran is ready to reach an agreement on a two-digit number of years, and we have a way to verify this, there are no additional steps we can take to ensure they will not have a nuclear weapon."

Referring to the speech in Congress, Obama said, "The coming of a prime minister from any country to speak to Congress a few weeks before elections – is a mistake and makes us look like we're in favor of him and get involved in the elections.

"We are working with the Israelis on many issues. But because of the elections we are not meet. I met with him more than with any other leader in the world. We must not jeopardize the talks. I am less concerned about Netanyahu's speech than what Congress will do. We should not impose sanctions and jeopardize the deal, while Iran will go and claim the US destroyed the diplomatic channel".
