Concern in New York: Circumcision decree cancellation deferred
Mayor of New York rejected the abolition of restrictions imposed by law on customs of circumcision • Health Ministry examines the move

New York: Was happiness due to cancellation of limits on the circumcision customs premature?
Cancellation which restricts the existence of circumcision practices and mouth sucking was deferred.
Two weeks ago Mayor Bill de Blasio came to New York to visit the Skvira Rebbe in Skver, during a visit the mayor announced he is lifting the restrictions imposed by the custom of his Jewish predecessor, Michael Bloomberg.
The mayor's announcement was received with joy, Satmar activists who worked to eradicate the decree also rushed to praise the mayor; who kept his promise on the eve of the election, to rescind the order.
According to current law, all mohelim must sign the parents on a form prior to circumcision, a form stating that they are aware of the existential threat in the practice.
On the eve of the election for mayor of New York the mayor promised the abolition of the law in exchange for support. Satmar pledged to mobilize the necessary votes.
But the cancellation of the law depends on the approval of the City Council and the Ministry of Health. This week, the Health Ministry announced that the hearing on approval of the law was postponed to June.
Health Ministry's announcement to postpone the approval of the new law raises concern in hacks, that cancellation will not be approved, if only because the majority of the Committee members were appointed by the Ministry of Health's time more pre mayor initiated and supported by law.
