After police announced it will reexamine the odd timing of the issue of indictment against Marzel, the Attorney General announced that he ordered the head of the police investigations unit to receive a clarification as to what considerations were for the indictment at this time precisely, and who was the one to decide.

Weinstein thereby agreed to the complaint of lawyer Itamar Ben Gvir, Marzel's representative, who approached him following the filing of charges against no. 4 candidate in 'Yachad' party about a week before the elections, even though this is old incident from two years ago. Weinstein also ordered the head of the investigations unit to address the question of how the filing of charges is in accordance with the policy of the Attorney regarding indictments before the elections.

According to the indictment, two years ago on 08.02.2013 Marzel passed near the house of Issa Amaro in Hebron with his friends, on their way to pray at the Cave of the Patriarchs. Marzel entered the yard, when Issa the landlord called him to go out. During the clash, Marzel punched Issa in the face, to the sound of cry of the Arabs who called soldiers, and later struck him twice in the leg, as a result of which Issa suffered red marks.

Marzel: "I will act against the politicization of the police"
Baruch Marzel responded by saying that "as a Knesset member for the future, I will place as my central objective to deal with all the weeds in the police and the Prosecutor's Office who bring politicization into all the corridors of power and think they need to manage the state of Israel.

"Unfortunately in this case whoever decided on the timing of the indictment has become a tool in the hands of the far left of 'Yesh Din' who place great pressure on the police and the prosecution, and more importantly a tool in the hands of a serial complainer, Issa Amaro, with a criminal past, who participated in dozens of disturbances and harm to IDA soldiers in Hebron.

"The attempt to harm my campaign failed and I get hundreds of comments from people who said that just because of the persecution and harassment they will vote for me, but we must address the issue of politicization in principle in the police and the Prosecutor's Office."

Marzel's lawyer, Itamar Ben Gvir says in response: "Well did the Attorney General who ordered the trial and investigation of the matter when whoever browses through the procedure sees that injustice has been done with Marzel. However the damage already done will be difficult to remove, and perhaps the Attorney General would do well if examines the conduct of the prosecution and the police against Marzel over the years. In our view Marzel has been unjustly persecuted, in view of his political views and the attitude toward him is discriminatory and selective".
