The terrorist who hit Avraham Weissfish was convicted today (Wednesday), and he was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
The victim, Rabbi Wisefish, refused to appear in court, he said because of "fear of the terrorist".
Aziz Awisat was accused and convicted based on his confession to an amended indictment as part of a plea bargain, ten counts of attempted murder: in 2012 the defendant decided to help the Palestinian terrorist organizations in their war against Israel in retaliation for the activities of the State of Israel in the mosque, "Al-Aqsa" and in Gaza. Initially sought to kill using an axe, and after hearing about the gas explosion in a residential building that led to the collapse of the building occupants and killing three family members, adopted a modus operandi of cutting gas pipes in apartment buildings in order to bring about mass murder.
According to the indictment he ambushed the victim at the Damascus gate and after a while found himself before Rabbi Avraham Wisefish, 73. Terrorist hit him on the 2-3 times, shouting "Allahu Akbar", Rabbi Wisefish tried to flee, the terrorist chased after him, the Jew tried to grab the axe, Awisat fell backwards and Rabbi Wisefish grabbed the axe which slipped from his grasp. The complainant was rushed to hospital with a cut on the left side of his head, a skull to his fracture and cut on his left index finger.
In additional charges the terrorist cut gas pipelines in various parts of Jerusalem, to cause a gas explosion and the collapse of the building occupants with the aim of racially motivated killing. As a result, gas leak caused a long stream of gas into the stairwell.
Terrorist born in 1965, married with six children aged 8- 24 years, lives with his family in Jabel Mukaber, worked in construction and three years ago stopped working and received funds from the National Insurance benefits.
