The Knesset speaker: "Burning of the Talmud - a record low of anti-Semitism"
יעקב הר צבי

Advertising intentions of the organizers of the anti-Semitic demonstration in London to hold at the start ceremony burning of the books of the Talmud, because it is "racist" brought about strong reactions in the political system.

Joshua Bonehill, one of the organizers, wrote in his blog that "Talmud books will be burned during the demonstration due to racism in the Talmud." Bonehill also called on all participants in the demonstration to acquire Israeli flags that they are going to burn in protest against Israel, with the goal of "The English people will show their solidarity with the Arabs suffering under the country's illegal and corrupt administration responsible for horrific war crimes".

Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein responded to behadrey haredim: "I was shocked to hear about the anti-Semitic intent in London to return to the barbaric step of the burning of the Talmud, which has become a derogatory term in Jewish history and infamous as a step taken by the enemies of Israel mainly in the Middle Ages. It was often alleged as part of inter-religious struggle of Christianity in Judaism, but it must be said clearly: This is the lowest level of anti-Semitism and anti-Israelism and some clash of civilizations "cultural unfolding before our eyes.

"I call to uncompromisingly fight these evil intentions, because in a place where one burns books-they will burn human beings too, in the words of Heine, and we must not go back to these depths.
