In an attack this morning (Wednesday) by militants on the Egyptian military positions in northern Sinai Peninsula, at least 30 soldiers were killed, by organization of the Islamic state - ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack. According to the position of the Egyptian army only 20 soldiers were killed, but sources claim the number may be triple - over 60 dead.

According to ISIS spur in Sinai - 'Lions', carried out three suicide bombings and attacked 15 military posts. The Egyptian army spokesman said that at least 70 terrorists took part in the attack and 22 of them were killed.

The spate of attacks was focused on military posts and police stations. Witnesses reported hearing explosions in Sheikh Zooid and many residents left their homes because they fear another attack. Streets of the sheikh zuweid town were mined, a police station in Al-Arish was surrounded and there are exchanges of fire, a convoy of tanks and armored personnel carriers attacked the way to Al-Arish.

Egyptian media reports on 64 deaths reported by security forces, so when the Egyptian army reported so far only 10 soldiers were killed.

In view of security incidents in northern Sinai Defense Ministry announced that operations have been closed at Kerem Shalom and Nitzana. Furthermore, the IDF raised the level of vigilance along the Egyptian border.

Update from the evening hours;

Egyptian military announced 17 deaths of which 4 officers were killed in an attack in Sinai. According to the announcement the culmination of the event was over and searches are now being carried out in the area.

According to Egyptian security sources, more than 100 militants were killed during clashes in northern Sinai.

A communiqué issued by the Secretariat this evening in Ramat Negev towns close to the border of Egypt said that the Council has to assess the situation. Currently there is a ban entry of agricultural areas to Be'er Milka. "Apart from this, no further limitations to my knowledge, but you are welcome to update if there is."

Safety Officer Council is in close contact with the brigade and security forces, and will update according to developments.
