Poll: the most expensive aliyos – Maftir and Shlishi

Towards the Yomim Tovim, the project "Shekel Hakodesh - I paid, I forgot", publishes for the first time statistical data on the donation habits of mispalelim in shulls in Israel.

Over the past year, commitments totaling NIS 3.4 million and vows to shulls were recorded through the application of "Shekel Hachodesh", out of which payments – by all payment methods – of about NIS 3.3 million were documented, indicating the high payment ethic of mispalelim (98%!) to shulls.

An in depth investigation of the data shows an average donation for the purchase of Mitzvos to the shull is NIS 268.

When examining the payment amounts by type of aliyah, it turns out to be a new picture of the range of prices per aliyah, as follows:

For an aliyah laTorah Cohen one pays in shulls i Israel an average of NIS 104, while the aliyah of "Levi" is sold at the lowest average amount of 53 NIS. "Shlishi", for some reason, is most costly aliyah in price except for Maftir and stands on NIS 105. "Revi'i" – NIS 86 and Chamishi – NIS 95 average.
The aliyah of Shishi which is considered "prestigious" is relatively inexpensive and gets an average of NIS 93, while Shvi'i stands on 79 shekels. Maftir is the important aliya and prices for it surge by hundreds of percents, with no less than an average NIS 568.

Alongside the sale of aliyos laTorah, Shekel Hakodesh also reviewed the buying of the most popular kibudim: the kibud of opening of the Ark and hotza'as Sefer Torah gets a fairly high 'price tag' with an average of NIS 1022. Hagbaha of the Torah at the end of the prayer – NIS 355 on average, Glila of the Torah – NIS 196 on average.

And which is the most generous community? This issue also has been checked in accordance with the nusach of prayers. Well, take note: in the first place are shulls of Chabad (Siddur Tehillas Hashem) with an average of NIS 419 donation to the synagogue. Afterward Ashkenaz shulls with NIS 269. Chassidic with NIS 257, 'Ahid' (uniform nusach) NIS 201, Sephardi NIS 196, nusach Sephard NIS 191. The list is closed with Yemenite nusach shulls with an average of NIS 94 contribution to the synagogue.

The Shekel Hakodesh venture (www.222.org.il) has taken upon itself to suit all matters of payments to shulls to the current technological era. To this day payment options to shulls would take effect with cumbersome and outdated methods, but now shulls which join the Shekel Hakodesh center benefit from payment option on a website, application and a 24/6 call center and credit card payments. Also, worshipers can be updated at any given time about the balance of the debt and obtain details of the expense of their obligations alongside receiving reminder messages.

Gabbaim who have joined the program, report a great relief to the load of their position, when the entire process of management of payments has been automated, and data is available at all times through the 'Shekel Hakodesh Plan for the Gabbai" on computer or Smartphone, the synagogue is more accessible to worshipers who feel more connected to it, and express more confidence in the management of the shull.
