Who will eat 110 thousand schnitzels on Rosh Hashanah?

Over 70 tons of meat and fish - this is what the soldiers would eat on Rosh Hashanah at various IDF units. In addition, they will also benefit from 110 thousand schnitzels, and also 2.5 ton vegetarian patties for vegetarians.

These days preparations for Rosh Hashana meals at various IDF units are moving towards completion. On the Eve of Rosh Hashanah IDF soldiers and commanders at dozens of bases and outposts will sit around the festive tables, in arms of land, air and sea and the various arenas and celebrate the New Year.

The IDF food center is preparing to provide for bases, camps and outposts a rich and varied holiday menu. As part of the food items from which soldiers will benefit on Rosh Hashana, provided by the food center are over 76 tons of meat and fish; about 22 tons of chicken and turkey breast, about 20 tons of fresh chicken parts, 11 tons of beef stew and a goulash, over 110 thousand schnitzel and 12 tons of grilled meats.

Even for the population of vegetarians and vegans, the IDF will deliver about 2.5 tons of items, including vegetable schnitzels, corn schnitzel, vegetarian burgers and a variety of vegetables.

The soldiers will start the New Year with two tons of pure honey where they can dip about 14 tons of apples. In addition, the holiday tables will include close to 32 tons of fruit and vegetables (including winter squash, beets, mushrooms, fresh vegetables, dates and a variety of dry fruits), 1.5 tons of burekas and 7 tons of pomegranates. For dessert 8 tons of rich honey cakes will be served.

The soldiers will toast the New Year with 7,500 bottles of grape juice and 9,200 carbonated drink bottles.
