Yated Neeman: won't "celebrate" the draft amendment
ת

Chose to remain silent - yesterday (Monday) the Knesset voted by a large majority to amend the draft law, after a long period of struggle since the abolition of the Tal Law by the Supreme Court, and the draft law of Lapid.
The amendment passed in the first reading, but those who did not speak before the vote were the MKs of United Torah Judaism. Those who took on the struggle of Lapid's draft law - chose to keep quiet yesterday, not to boast. Even the organ of United Torah Judaism, the daily Yated Neeman, chose not to celebrate in an unusual way the amendment of the harsh law, and settled for a standard report.
Moreover, the daily published an announcement explaining why the amendment is not "celebrated" as it might have been deserved. "The amendment of the draft law," Yated wrote, "which is connected to the soul of the Torah world, is given to rabbinic emissaries who receive guidance from Maranan Verabanan shlita, and stand in consultation with members of the Council of Torah Sages shlita on every step of the way."

Yated further clarifies - "By the instruction of Maranan Verabanan shlita, the emissaries are avoiding any media coverage of the issue, which may G-d forbid harm the viability of the Torah world against those who rise up against it. Yated Neeman too, as the mouthpiece of Gedolei Hador, uses these guidelines, provided that all the bnei yeshivos and kollelim continue their learning without any interference and without any conditionality".
It should be noted that recently MKs of Degel HaTorah refused to be interviewed in the media regarding the issue of the conscription law. According to an official in Degel HaTorah, talking with Behadrey Haredim, "It should not be that the haredim will celebrate with titles and messages of victory and at the same time the secular opponents of the law and the media in general will take those quotes, and turn them into headlines of incitement against the haredi sector. It is best to quietly celebrate and get less incitement".
Those who still related exceptionally to the amendment was Yediot Aharonot, which wrote on the home page that, "Conscription law was revoked," which is not accurate, of course, because the draft law was amended and postponed, not canceled.
In Bnei Torah newspaper, Hapeles, a rooftop headline stated that "the burden equality law received the support of the current coalition, with the stamp of the haredi parties." Another report on the subject was entitled with quoting the words of MK Eitan Cabel, who asked last night the haredi MKs - "You stood and made a kria, and I believed every word - and see what a wonder" (see attached).
