The Jewish community in Boca Raton, Florida is mourning: A local haredi man who was hosted in Lawrence, New York last Shabbos, was killed in a fatal car accident while walking to prayers on Friday night.
The accident occurred on Friday at around five in the afternoon, when the Theodore Schifman z"l crossed the Nassau Expressway highway and a passing Dodge car came south of highway and hit him.
Schifman, 82, was seriously injured and was rushed to the hospital - where he died two hours later.
The local police chief said that the driver of the car that hit Schiffman stayed on the scene, and police checked the vehicle's brake system and found that they were normal, and the driver was subsequently discharged.
Members of the organization Achiezer and Chesed Shel Emes used their connection to avoid an autopsy.
Rabbi Yitzhak Dahan, rabbi of the community to which Schifman belonged, says that he was a very special person, a great ba'al chessed who would give secretly give charity. A person who did not miss even one day of participation in the Daf Hayomi shiur given regularly in his neighborhood.
The deceased z"l is survived by his wife, three children and grandchildren. His funeral date is yet to be determined.
