View: in preparation of commanding the haredim

Officers and commanders who are destined to command the Tomer haredi brigade of "Givati" lit today (Sunday) the Chanukah candles at the home of Rabbi of Jerusalem, Rabbi Aryeh Stern, within the framework of days of preparation for the command of haredi soldiers.




The Tomer company was established about a year and a half ago at the initiative of former Givati Brigade commander Ofer Winter. Today the brigade commander is Colonel Yaron Finkelman. More than 200 soldiers serve in the Tomer battalion arriving from the "Haredi core", with the aim that the company officers commanding the batallion will be haredi too.
Today the chain of command officers are haredi, but also secular and national religious soldiers. Commanding of haredi soldiers is different from other sectors naturally, thus the commanders undergo a preparatory day in which they hear about the complexities and the world from which haredi soldiers come.
As part of the preparations, the soldiers spent Shabbos at a haredi home by courtesy of the Shahar organization, and had military training as part of a known Hassidus and the Knesset, with a view to meet all the layers of the haredi public.
Today there was a preparation day for the command staff of the turnover in November, which was attended by 20 officers and officers of the Givati Brigade, who should command the haredi soldiers at Tomer battalion.
The soldiers toured the Knesset, and at the end of the day came for candle lighting of the 8th day of Hanukkah at the home of Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem, Rabbi Aryeh Stern. This is not the first time that the Rabbi of Jerusalem has held events for IDF soldiers since he took office.
