Is there news for Pollard? Justice demands today (Monday) explanations for the restrictions imposed on Jonathan Pollard.

Katherine Forrest, District Court Judge in the United States, demanded of the Federal Committee to provide additional justification for the restrictive conditions which imposed on Jonathan Pollard, since his release from American prison last month.

"If he has secret information that he may reveal - then restrictive conditions are necessary," she said, and asked to re-examine the conditions of his release.

Pollard, who served a sentence of 30 years in prison for spying for Israel, appealed to the US Court of his release conditions, and asked to remove the electronic bracelet attached to his ankle, and additional restrictions.

The parole board ruled that Pollard must be under curfew every night from 19:00 to 7 am, the meaning of the curfew is that Pollard could not participate for five years in maariv, Shabbos and Yom Tov prayers, family celebrations, weddings and bar mitzvahs, lectures and more.

In addition, Pollard has to wear a cuff with GPS which monitors his movements throughout the day, and monitors his home computer, and the computer at his workplace. Also, during the curfew he must personally answer any ringing or a knock at the door at all hours of the night.

The area where Pollard is permitted to walk about in New York was limited as well, and as a result of the severe restrictions imposed on Pollard the investment business owner who already agreed to hire him as an analyst, retracted on the grounds that the parole board requires installing the monitoring of all computers of the business, which may disclose the information on the computer network of the company.

His lawyers argue that there is no legal justification for the severe restrictions imposed on him, as the Court itself has concluded that if Pollard still has some intelligence information in his head, it is already 30-31 years old and is irrelevant. "Having reached these conclusions, and given the early release of Pollard, the claim that it is justified to impose such severe conditions is absurd and manipulative," concluded the lawyers.
