The wave of terror: This morning (Wednesday), Gennady Kaufman HYD, wounded nearby the Cave of the Patriarchs three weeks ago, passed away.
Gennady Kaufman, who was critically wounded after being stabbed by a terrorist near the Cave of the Patriarchs three weeks ago, was hospitalized at the Shaare Zedek Medical Center where doctors fought for his life.
"Despite the difficult and stubborn struggle of the various teams for three and a half weeks he did not survive the fatal injury and died about half an hour ago," said Shaare Zedek.
Kaufman was critically wounded in the attack in Hebron on December 7, when a terrorist stabbed him near the Tomb of the Patriarchs. The terrorist was killed.
Kaufman was a well known figure in Kiryat Arba and Hebron. He was a security guard but in recent months he worked as a gardener and maintenance man in the Jewish community of Hebron and the Cave of the Patriarchs. Kaufman was married with two children.
Kiryat Arba Council head Malachi Levinger, who stayed throughout the night at the bedside of Kaufman, said: "The family is in great pain. In recent days we prayed deeply for the recovery of our friend. We seek to strengthen family and community in these difficult days."
