Desecration of cemeteries in the world: new restoration fund

A new fund for the construction and renovation of cemeteries throughout Europe, has been established.
The organization undertook to repair, renovate and build fences of cemeteries, to be operated in dozens of countries, cities and countries in every place where a Jewish community had lived in recent centuries.
In fact millions of dollars have already been paid for this purpose, and indeed the resting place of many, in many cities across the continent have been renovated, but all the activities are a drop in the ocean which still needs to be done for the honor of the interred.
The most unfortunate fact is, that many tombs of Gedolei Yisroel have been desecrated since the right opportunity has to construct them anew has not yet come up.
Now, with the establishment of the special fund it will act for renewing and renovating cemeteries all over Europe.
The person behind the fund is Rabbi Israel Meir Gabbai, Chairman of Ohalei Tzaddikim, who went to visit the towns of Ukraine, where he found workers in a cemetery who set up the fence. He went out to clarify the extensive operations of the organization, and discovered that they restored and fenced off for more than thirty cemeteries in recent months since the organization was established, and all under the care and halachic supervision of Hagaon Rabbi Elyakim Schlesinger, Rosh Yeshiva of Harama, so that everything is done with the greatest of dignity, according to Jewish law.
"This is such good news which one has to announce in public, that people pay such attention to this great endeavor, preserving the dignity of earth dwellers," says Rabbi Israel Meir Gabbai.
Indeed the substantial financing will save millions of shekels for talmidim and descendants of those buried in the Diaspora, who to this very day have invested heavily in maintaining the resting place of their forefathers, and now are able to obtain the necessary financing from the special fund, and dignify even more the resting place of their ancestors and rabbis.
