Talmud Torah Tashbar in Stamford Hill in London received at the end of this week closure order which was sent by the Ministry of Education, due to non-teaching of the core curriculum at the school.
This is an old Talmud Torah which has existed for 40 years with two hundred children attending. About a month ago the Ministry of Education reviewed the Talmud Torah and tested the knowledge of the children in the core curriculum, following the meeting it became clear that children do not pass the minimum standard.
The Talmud Torah in a letter to the Ministry of Education said that for religious reasons and values, the English language as well as the core curriculum studies and general studies are not taught.
The Ministry of Education notes that three visits were paid to the Talmud Torah conducted by the Ministry and on each occasion it turned out that the school does not teach the core curriculum studies, but despite this the Ministry of Education has not taken punitive measures against the school.
Education Ministry spokesman in London said that the school closure order has been received in December and now it was clarified that he has to close the school immediately until the 12th of February.
Running a school without registration in the Ministry of Education is against the law.
The British Humane Society has already welcomed the decision, but called on the Ministry of Education to run the sanctions against all independent schools which do not teach the core curriculum studies.
