Ukraine threatens to indict MK Ya'akov Margi, following his visit to the Crimea: The Ukrainian government has officially announced to Israel that it is considering filing an indictment against Knesset Education Committee chairman MK Yakov Margi's visit to the Crimea and his meeting with President of the Republic established by Russia.
Last Thursday, the Ukraine embassy sent a letter of protest to the Israeli Foreign Ministry about Margi's visit to Crimea. The letter noted that according to Ukrainian law, one is not allowed to enter the Crimea or to meet with representatives of the puppet government established there by the Russians without the approval of the Ukrainian authorities. The letter added that Margi transgressed the law and they are considering to prosecute.
The office of MK Yaakov Margi responded that the trip was approved by the Ethics Committee and was coordinated by the Knesset Foreign Affairs Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy. All coordinations have been made with the relevant factors.
Rabbi of the Ukraine Rabbi Moshe Asman said tonight (Saturday night) in an interview with the Hakol Haharedi: "The visit resonated, the media here is covering it with huge headlines. It could be that he was lead into a trap. Some members of Parliament are outraged, they want to cancel the agreement which canceled the need for visas, which would make it difficult for tens of thousands of passengers to Uman".
