Wounded at "deadly bus" accident - the state of the bride Sarah Sperling, 20, who was injured in a fatal car accident on Route 1 remains serious but stable, and she is hospitalized in the intensive care unit at the Assaf Harofeh hospital. Sarah, a resident of the Neve Yaakov neighborhood of Jerusalem, was supposed to get married in three weeks to Yaakov Kestelnitz, a yeshiva student of Kol Torah in Jerusalem. But the wedding will be postponed following the injury, as her father announced yesterday.
In the accident on Route 1, 6 were killed - Yaakov Cheshin z"l (27), who was on his way to a shidduch meeting; Israel Weinberg z"l (26), who was riding to the wedding of a cousin. Hannah Frankel A"H (23) on her way to celebrate a second wedding anniversary with her husband, who was lightly injured. Levi Yitzchak Amdadi (17) z"l of Yavne'el. Leah Malamud a"h (61), and Aharon Mordechai Cohen z"l (18) from Jerusalem.
Haim Biton, the bus driver, was arrested after the accident on suspicion of obstruction of justice, by opening the black box of the bus. His detention was extended yesterday in the traffic court in Jerusalem by three days.
Today the Economic Committee will continue with the public hearing against road accidents, and the discussion will be attended by chief of traffic police, Major General Yaron Be'eri, who will report to the committee on the investigation into the fatal accident which occurred on the highway on Sunday, killing six people.
