Good news: the bride Chaya Sarah bat Dina Sperling woke up tonight (Saturday), and is talking with her family.
Almost a week after she was severely injured in the road accident on line 402, in which six people were killed, 20-year-old Sarah Sperling opened her eyes, and spoke with family members, when removed from the anesthesia.
Medical activist Yossi Margalit, Chairman of Rafael Medical Center, who has been escorting the family since Sarah was admitted to the hospital, says to Behadrey Haredim: "The family called me and said excitedly that their daughter awoke, and is talking with them.
"It should be noted that she is still in need of much Divine mercy, and will need to undergo a long and difficult period of recuperation. The family would like to thank the people of Israel for their prayers so far, and ask to continue to pray for Chaya Sarah bas Dina."
Meanwhile, the father Rabbi Avraham Sperling said that, "the modest clothes of Sarah saved her hand."
He said, "On Thursday, I learned that Sarah was taken to the hospital with her hand completely amputated, but the hand itself remained attached to her following the modest garment she wore, and was not lost at the scene of the harsh accident."
The prospective chosson, Yaakov Kestelnitz, a yeshiva student at Kol Torah in Jerusalem, is a frequent visitor at the hospital while continuously praying for her safety.
In the Route 1 accident last Sunday night, 6 were killed – Yaakov Cheshin z"l 18)), Yisrael Weinberg z"l (26), driving to the wedding of a cousin. Hannah Frankel A"H (23) on her way to celebrate a second wedding anniversary with her husband, who was lightly injured. Levi Yitzchak Amdadi (17) of Yavne'el. Leah Malamud a"h (61), and Aharon Mordechai Cohen (18) from Jerusalem.
