Bulgaria confirms – Omar Ziad Nayef, the terrorist who murdered a yeshiva student and fled to Bulgaria, was found this morning (Friday) dead "in mysterious circumstances". Abbas announced that he was setting up a special investigation team to investigate the assassination, and the Popular Front blamed the Mossad.

At the Palestinian embassy in Bulgaria Omar Ziad (52), a terrorist wanted by Israel, who since December 2015 was staying at the Palestinian Authority embassy in Bulgaria, was found dead on Friday after the Mossad was on his heels and Israel demanded his extradition following the brutal murder he committed in Israel.

On Friday morning at 7:35 a medical team was dispatched to the Palestinian embassy, but to no avail - a short time later he was pronounced dead, and now there are attempts to clarify the mysterious circumstances of his death. The terrorist's brother said that they have received the report on the death from the embassy. "Omar has received several threats while taking shelter our embassy, the Bulgarian authorities have received a request from the Interpol to extradite him to Israel in light of his participation in the killing of a settler 27 years ago."

Ziad was convicted of murder in the attack in the Old City of Jerusalem, of Eliyahu Amedi HYD, who was stabbed 41 stab wounds all over his body.

The incident occurred shortly after the outbreak of the intifada in 1987, on Shabbat 24th Cheshvan a yeshiva student of Shuvu Banim Eliyahu Amedi HYD was murdered by stabbing on his return on Shabbat from prayer at the Western Wall, not far from his yeshiva.

Eliyahu HYD walked the streets of the Old City towards the yeshiva and an Arab terrorist ran towards him and stabbed him in the back. Eliyahu did not lose his wits, took the knife from his back and started to run after the stabber with a knife in his hand, after an exhausting chase he collapsed and died.

Three terrorists were arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment. Four years after the attack, Ziad, who was held in Ashkelon Prison went for a medical examination after a hunger strike, and was admitted to hospital in Bethlehem, where he managed to escape his guards and left Israel, apparently to Jordan, and from there went to Bulgaria.

For 22 years he lived in Sofia, Bulgaria, got married and had three children. The last two months he was staying at the embassy for fear that he be extradited, and this morning, mysteriously, was found dead.

Immediately upon publication of his death, Abbas announced that he will set up a special investigation team to examine the circumstances of the death. In addition, the PFLP sent a message accusing Israel of terrorist liquidation and claims that this is an action of the Israeli Mossad.

It should be noted that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened only yesterday in his office with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, who came to Israel, saying that "Israel and Bulgaria are on the same side in the fight against terrorism and Islamic radicalism. It is a struggle not only for the future of our countries, but for the future of our common values and our common culture".

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said on the visit - "As far as the security and the war on terror, we have achieved many things together and we are doing many things together, and I do not hide the fact that we had many phone calls on this issue."
