The sochnut does not allow charedi representatives to participate in the absorption of French Jews in Israel, Gedolei Yisrael in America are rallying . “Gezeiras Shmad”
In the last week they are organizing special rallies in the cities of France for those that intend to make aliyah for the coming school year. The sochnut has invited heads ofIsreali schools to meet with these parents.
In light of the emergency situation , there are emergency meeting taking place now in the homes of Gedolei Yisrael in America that are working to save the children. Among them are the Admorim of Satmar, Skulein, Kalev, Hagoan Reb Dovid Feinstein Rosh Yeshivas Teferes Yerushalayim, and Hagoan,Reb Malkeil Kotler Rosh Yehsivas Beis Medresh Gevoha.
They are discussing establishing an organization for the sake of French children from the donations of Acheinu Bais Yisrael, and philanthropists, that will run under the supervision of a Rabbinical Board here in Israel, through which all the relevant organizations will participate for the sake of the holy goal of saving the French children.
According to the askanim over 5,000 Jews showed up at the rally- well over the number of people estimated. This is testimony to the deep seated fear that the French Jews have of the Islamic culture that is spreading through France and all of Europe.
According to witnesses of such rallies in previous years school representatives participating in these events, where the vast majority of French participants are Shomer Shabbos, portray their schools as fitting for a Shomer Shabbos parent body when in fact they are very far from religion . All requests of askanim to permit charedi representatives to attend these rallies have been rejected by the heads of the sochnut.
Hadrei HaHareidim has learned that in recent weeks delegations sent to observe the areas the schools in areas of great concentration of French immigrants have revealed no less than a bitter decree of secularization.
From amongst the thousands of French children that have immigrated to Israel in the recent wave of immigration in the wake of the terror attack in Toulhouse four years ago, only hundreds have entered schools that are Shomer Shabbos and have themselves remained Shomer Shabbos.
This has raised the awareness of the urgency for Torah observant delegate to inform the French parents of their option so that they could willingly make the best decisions for their children, and to help eh schools prepare for the incoming wave of olim.
The great increase in numbers of expected olim from France has raised worry among the askanim about the Torah schools in existence the areas where olim from France tend to settle, and their lack of space available to absorb new students. There is also the matter of a lack of funding for constructing classrooms and hiring teachers and specialized staff to aid both the physical and spiritual acclimation fo the students to their new settings.
