Child Dressed up as Tzedakah Box: Swallowed Coins and Choked
A 5 year old child in Jerusalem dressed as a tzedakah box and swallowed coins. He choked and was rushed to the hospital where he underwent surgery to have the coins removed.

A dangerous form of charity: 5 year old child choked on swallowed coins in his Talmud Torah. He was rushed to Terem where he was sedated and specialized equipment was passed into his esophagus where a second coin was seen lodged in his esophagus.
Dr. Dovid Zlatnik, expert in emergency medicine and medical director of Terem decided to have him transferred to Sharei Tzedek hospital in order to undergo surgery under general anesthesia in order to remove the coin. His body was immobilized during transfer in order to prevent the coin from dislodging and choking the child.
A second procedure was successfully carried out in Sharei Tzedek and the coin was removed.
