Baruch Hayan Haemes. Rebbtizen Nesha Rotner a”h passed away yesterday (Monday) at the age of 89 in Maynei Hayeshua Hosptial in Bnei Brak. She was the wife of Harav Hagoan Reb Yakov Ben Tzion Rotner, Av Beis Din of Chlisa in Chaifa.
The Rebbitzen was a Holocaust survivor who was born n Transylvania. She married after the war and ended up living for a time in Cyprus on her way to Eretz Yisrael. The couple finally entered Israel after the birth of their first child, settling in Migdael. From there they moved to Chaifa when Harav Rotner became the Rav of the Chlisa Kehilla.
The Rebbitzen was a true Eishes Chayil and a very special woman. Her home was always open to visiting Rabanim. She was known as a tzadekes, her tefilos were well known and she raised her many children to Torah and Chassidus.
Many years ago on a visit to the Baba Sali, Harav Rotner was asked how many children he asked. “17,” he answered. “Are they all from one wife?” When he answered that they were in fact born of just one wife the Baba Sali stood up for him.
She left behind over a thousand grandchildren and great grand children, whom she remembered each by name until her last day.
Every year she would host her entire family for a Shabbos during the summer- a Shabbos that became known as “Shabbas Rotner”.
