Deri at Degel Conference: “Wish I had Such Problems"
Aryeh Deri laments his situation at the Degel Hatorah conference. “Halavei I had such problems. You don’t hear Shas talking about discrimination- so it’s a good thing Degel is taking it on now.” Regarding widening the government- “It’s not my issue at present.”

In the shadows of an investigation Aryeh Deri mad an appearance at the third Degel Hatorah conference in Chofetz Chaim. He mentioned his personal problems, the possibility of widening the government and the pressing issues of Charedi society.
He opened his remarks saying, “I told Harav Gafni that on the way here we were able to hear his screams- but he does it with a smile and charm. I want to tell you- the Degel representatives- do not get taken aback by his screaming. You should know that two of your six delegates can accomplish the work of ten.
“Harav Gani and Harav Maklev- I am jealous of your problems. I wish I had such problems. And for a change you don’t hear Shas talking about discrimination- so I am glad you are taking it on now.
Deri referenced the possibility of expanding the government and said that he does not see such a possibility in the near future. He mentioned that there are problems in the coalition, “but they are not by the chareidim- they are in the Likud.”
He said that relations between Shas and Degel are the best ever.
He spoke about the housing crises in the charedi community and said that the government has invested billions in solving it- but that we don’t yet see the results. “Everyone know that the problem is worse specifically in the charedi community- and that we haven’t’ yet gotten what we deserve. We will continue investing in this.”
Deri thanked the Secretary General of Degel Yakov Asher for his efforts in the matter and spoke about future cooperation between Degel and Shas.
