Oren Chazan: How Can We Sit with Supporters of Terrorists who Attack the Torah
The opposition to increasing Netanyahu's coalition and including the leftist Machaneh Tzioni gathers strength. Likud MK Oren Chazan, vehemently attacked the initiative saying, "They want to annul our Jewish identity, to separate government from religion. This is not why we received 30 mandates."

Opposition to the Hamachneh Hatzioni party joining the Government is increasing. There are already two MKS opposed to Herzog joining: MK Yoav Kish and Mk Oren Chazan. On the other side, MK Stav Shaffir from the Labor Party expressed significant opposition as well. She said that their entrance into the Government would make them, “Traitors to the vision and values of the generations-long values of the labor movement.”
Speaking with Bechadrey, Deputy Speaker of the Knesset MK Oren Chazan said that he is opposed to Hamachaneh Hatzioni joining the Government coalition. According to him, “I’ve always been a Likudnik, and I know that our way is not the way of the Labor Party. Certainly not with the crazy union with Hamachneh Hatzioni. I can’t see myself sitting in a coalition with people who support terrorists and consider the Palestinian intifada to be legitimate; people who witness a violent struggle against the Jewish people and think it’s legitimate.
“I simply can’t understand how we, a party that received the people’s support, were given 30 seats and promised that there would be no ‘unity government’ can form such. The main reason that we received so many votes is that we didn’t agree to sit with Tzipi Livni and Bougie Herzog, and now we’re trying so hard to get them in.”
Chazan added that, “If Hamachneh Hatzioni joins the Government, the coalition will no longer have any discipline. They’ll have us vote on Labor Party matters concerning settlements, Jerusalem and Torah issues. These are things they would like to annul, change, and get rid of: to annul their own Jewish identity; to separate religion and state. And I’ll be subject to such Coalition discipline?”
