Symbolic King of Togo Visits Minister of Religion
Togo's symbolic king said today," My goal is to come next sukkos to the Kosel with my congregation and cry out Shema Yisrael." He was told to speak with the Chief Rabbanit.

The King of Togo arrived Sunday morning at office of the Minister of Religion, Dovid Azulai bedecked in a crown and royal robes. He requested that the State of Israel recognize his tribe as Jews. He hoped that today's visit will open the door to Israel's eventual recognition of the People of Togo as Jews.
"My goal is to come with my congregation to the Kosel and cry out Shema Yisrael," he told Azulai. For his part Azuali told him that the correct address for his request is the Chief Rabbinate, who will have to investigate the halachik issues involved.
