Meir Porush to Leave the Knesset
Major drama taking place in Yahadut Hatorah: Deputy Education Minister MK Meir Porush will quit the Knesset today (Sunday) to allow Degel Hatorah MK Yakov Asher to take his place. With this dramatic step tensions between Degel Hatorah and Agudas Yisrael are expected to calm down.

Major drama taking place in Yahadut Hatorah: Deputy Education Minister MK Meir Parush will quit the Knesset today (Sunday) to allow Degel Hatorah MK Yakov Asher to take his place. With this dramatic step tensions between Degel Hatorah and Agudas Yisrael are expected to calm down.
Bechadrey Hacharedim has learned that a grandson of Harav Shteinman, Dovid Shapira met with Meir Parush a number of times since Pesach and the two tried to come up with a way to quell the rising tensions between the two parties in Yahadut Hatorah.
The heads of Degel have said that implementing the "Norwegian rule" will help them to calm tensions between the parties and achieve a unified and effective Yahadut Hatorah.
Before Shabbos the sides came to an agreement and this morning Parush will present his resignation from the Knesset and will continue to serve as Deputy Education Minister. Yakov Asher will receive the Yahadut HaTorah's 7th mandate.
