Netnayahu: I am Sephardi

According to Yedioth Ahronoth Binyamin Netanyahu made the surprising announcement last night when he spoke at the dedication of the Tel Aviv based Diaspora Museum's new wing.

During the event the wife of MK Yuli Edelstein presented Netanyahu with a copy of his family tree. During his speech Netanayahu said that at a quick glance he could see that his family tree needs to be corrected.

As he said," My brother Eido is both a writer and a doctor. He was approached by people who trace your lineage through DNA testing. My brother was tested and their conclusions are that we are Lithuanian Jews, descended from the Vilna Goan, with a Sephardic base.DNA testing of my brother's saliva revealed that at least part of our ancestral tree originated in Spain.

Obviously as the head of Likud they have told me this about 30 years too late. But in truth this just goes to show that all of the Jewish People are brothers. That is in fact the strongest message I feel we should take home from this institution: We can see the family of the Jewish Nation.
