“Soldiers Hesitated To Shoot Terrorist”

“There was hesitation to shoot; I have no doubt that this is a direct result of the Elor Azaryah case. All they tell the soldiers lately is to be careful and even more careful” said the soldiers tour guide, speaking to Israel Army Radio this (Sunday) afternoon. This was no accident, he drove in reverse to finish off the wounded”.

A passerby that opened fire at the terrorist shared his experience “I did not see his (terrorist) face because the sun was blinding me. After I started shooting at him others joined along and also opened fire. The terrorist paused and then continued on to the sidewalk another 10 meters. Even after I fired 12 rounds at him he was still not neutralized, I don’t understand why the soldiers who were present did not open fire on him”.
Commenting on the terror attack, MK Oren Chazzan said, “The bloody terror attack in Yerushalayim is a direct result of the Azaryah case. To my dismay, the IDF’s power of deterrence has been affected because of the outcome of the Azaryah trial and the public debate that it caused. This encourages terrorists to carry out attacks and not fear that security forces will shoot at them. They know that soldiers will think twice before opening fire on them”.
He added, “My heart is torn with the families that lost loved ones. I wish a fast recovery to the injured, and call on the community to show restraint and let the security forces do their job”.
