Escalation in the South of Israel. Hagaon R' Chaim: "stay only if there are shelters"
Two Avreichim from Sha'arei Shmuos Yeshiva in Beis Chilkiya asked R' Chaim Kanievsky if to leave the place because of the security situation. "The best is to come to Bnei Brak. They will not be harmed in a Torah place".

For the last three days, the settlements at the south of Israel are under artillery attack, and many Yeshivos have enabled the Bochrim to return to their homes in central Israel, to learn in safer places.
The Sha'arei Shmuos Yeshiva which is located in the Beit Chilkiya Moshav, is suffering of recurring alarms, which disturb the regular learning schedule at the Yeshiva. The boys are forced to leave the Stenders every few hours, and to gather in the protected areas, what makes the learning routine hard to maintain.
The Roshei Yeshiva, Hagaon R' Naftali Zvi Yehuda Shapira and R' Arye Shapira, sent two Avreichim to R' Chaim Kanievsky, to consult with him whether to leave the place until the situation will calm down. R' Chaim answered that it would be better for them to move the Yeshiva to Bnei Brak. "Here it is a city of Torah. And in a city of Torah missiles don't fall", R' Chaim explained.
The Avreichim answered that the management of the Yeshiva will find it hard to get organized and find an alternative place in Bnei Brak. "This could cause a big Bitul Torah", they said.
R' Chaim enquired into the details, and replied that if there are shelters in the vicinity of the Yeshiva, they could stay in the place, but on condition that they take heed of the security forces' instructions.
During the last hours, the Yeshiva's management evacuated two shelters which are close to the Yeshiva so that they could serve the Yeshiva students in case of need.
This morning, R' Chaim instructed residents who did not manage to return to their cities which are under artillery, not to return.
The students of the Belzer Yeshiva in Beis Chilkiya, who left for Purim to Jerusalem, did not return to Yeshiva either.
