Will the track of demonstrations against the desecration of Shabbos in the Karta Parking lot in Jerusalem rise a level?
This coming Shabbos, Parshas Shlach, hundreds of demonstrators, mainly from Meah Shearim and its surroundings, are planning to go out and demonstrate on Haneviim st. against the desecration of Shabbos in the Karta parking lot.
According to some of the demonstrators, the reason for going out to demonstrate and the mass recruiting, is the harm to the supervisor of the demonstration who was placed by the Eda Chareidis last Shabbos, who was arrested for no reason.
"There is no doubt that over the last weeks, they have declared war against us in the police", says one of the central figures in the Karta demonstrations in a talk with Behdrei Haredim. "The arrest of the supervisor which we appointed, for no reason, is the proof that they are looking to light up the flames".
According to him, "On the first Shabboses of the summer, the demonstrations are quiet and go by without arrests. This week we are planning to fight for the kedusha of Shabbos even if it will bring about arrests which will last a few days".
The leftist activists who arrived last Shabbos and tried to spur the spirits between the police and the Hareidi demonstrators, form another factor which will encourage the masses to go out to demonstrate this Shabbos.
Behadrei Hareidim found out that not only the Hareidi side is making plans for this coming Shabbos. The activists of "Free Israel" and "Meretz" are also planning a considerable reinforcement, and arriving in masses in a contrary demonstration.
