A Jewish couple who live in England, had a harsh experience last weekend: the two arrived for a weekend of the 40's, an event which takes place every year in Lankshire, England, in which the participants replicate life in England during the Second World War.

According to the couple, they were asked by the organizers to wear a yellow Magen Dovid on their clothes, and to act as Jewish figures being persecuted in the holocaust. Other participants wore S.S. uniforms.

In an interview to the Manchester Evening News paper, the couple told furiously about being asked to dress up as refugees, in order to give the event "another dimension of passing on the atmosphere in that era. This was a total lack of respect for the six million Jews and other people who were murdered by the Nazis, to see the participants in these uniforms", said the husband. "It was an innocent request, but of course we did not agree to do so. No Jew would have agreed to it."

"We wanted to celebrate the British involvement, without which other Jews would have been murdered," the couple told. "Nevertheless, we did not understand why in an event which focuses on the British activity during the war, it is necessary that people dress up as S.S. officers. They didn't even step on British territory".

The woman told that her family members were murdered in the holocaust, what made her shock even sharper. "A few sisters and a brother of my grandmother found their death in the camps. One of the cousins of my mother was even shot to death in front of her family," she said.

Last year, the managers of the event decided to forbid the use of Nazi uniforms, for fear of hurting the participants' feelings. The general manager of the event responded following the publication of the case, that steps will be taken in order to prevent it from recurring.
