Bnei Brak: Dropout youths violently attacked Yeshiva Bochurim

A series of crimes in Bnei Brak on Shabbos night: Yeshiva bochurim were violently attacked on Nachum corner Hashomer streets, and apartments on Ben Zakai street were burgled.

A group of Yeshiva bochurim who came from France and are learning at a Yeshiva in Bnei Brak, took part in a Tish of the Viznitz chassidus on Friday night. When they passed in Hashomer corner Nachum street, a few drop out youths came up to them, and asked them for seeds. When they answered that they have none – the youths started attacking them.

Chaim Roter, the chairman of Hashomrim organization in Bnei Brak, told Behadrei Hareidim that one of the bochurim was injured in his head, and the glasses of a second were broken. Never the less, the injured boys refused to be taken to hospital on Shabbos, since they were of the opinion that this is not Pikuach Nefesh.

On Motzaei Shabos they went to the Maayanei Hayeshua hospital of their own accord, where they were checked. It became clear that they are suffering of dry wounds only.
According to Roter, he recommended to them to complain about the attackers, in order to prevent recurring incidents in the future, but they refused with the claim that they have no time for that.

More on Friday night: anonymous burglars broke into two apartments on Ben Zakai street. In one of the incidents, the members of the home woke up from the noise that the robbers made, and caused them to flee. In another apartment on the same street, a sum of more than $1,000 and jewels were robbed.

"The coming period is prone to be dangerous, since the vacation is coming up and whole families leave their homes for a vacation outside the city," says Roter, and adds: "The insolence of the burglars is beyond comprehension, and over the last year a few burglaries have occurred in homes in which people slept. In part of the cases, the burglars escaped, and in other cases the burglars sprayed tear-gas towards the owners of the home in order to prevent them from following them, and only then escaped".

Evyatar A., a Talmid of the Yeshiva who was attacked, told Behadrei Hareidim: "I went out with my friend Eliezer A. and his brother from the Orchos Torah Yeshiva on Minz street in Bnei Brak, towards the Viznitz shull in order to take part in the Tish. When we arrived, we were told that the Rebbe is not there, and therefore only a "Bate" was held there. We delayed for a few minutes, and started walking back towards the Yeshiva, with my friend Eliezer holding a small packet of watermelon seeds.

"When we strolled down Kahanaman street close to 1:30 am," Evyatar continues, "one of us noticed a group of 6 dropout youths who were talking loudly and following us. One of the youngsters went up to Eliezer and asked for the packet of seeds. He answered that he only has a few, and can't give any.

"The youngster didn't wait, and tried to grab the packet of seeds from his hands but without success. In response he gave Eliezer a painful smack on his face, which caused damage to his glasses.

"I, who couldn't bear to see that, approached the attacker and asked him why he's doing that, and instead of answering me, he and two friends started attacking me too. I protected myself a bit, and we ran away from the place".
