The Tal Law has expired and the Yeshiva students are suspended in mid air. But while the hareidi M.K.'s are helpless, the secular bodies do not sit idle.
Now the second stage is getting closer:

The Organization for Freedom of Religion and Equality, the Free Israel movement, the Forum for Equality of Burden and previous M.K. Roni Brizon (Shinui party) presented an appeal to the supreme Court yesterday (Monday), in which they requested to stop the budget of 54 thousand Yeshiva students and avreichim who have lost their standing of delay in service because of the expiry of the law.

According to the appealers, by the tests of budgets to Yeshivos, only those who have an exemption from military service are entitled to receive support for their studies.
In the past, one who received a delay of service according the Tal Law could receive support, but because of the expiry of the law, this criterion is no longer valid.

According to the appealers, the number of Yeshiva students who had the standing of a delay of service before the expiry of the law, is around 54 thousand Yeshiva students, and the legal situation does not allow giving the Yeshiva students the monetary support.

According to the estimations of the organization for Freedom of Religion and Equality, the extent of stipends which these students received is about 30 million NIS per month, and about 400 million NIS per year.
