Meah Shearim: third night of demonstrations and arrests
Two demonstrators were arrested in the daily demonstration which is now held for the third night consecutively, at Kikar Hashabbat. Until now, 10 demonstrators have been arrested. Photographer Kobi Har Zvi returned with a burning gallery

This is the third consecutive day in which a demonstration is being held at Kikar Hashabbat, as a result of the arrest of a senior member of 'Atra Kadisha', Chezky Kalmanowitz, and the arrests which took place in the two previous nights during demonstrations.
On Thursday night towards 23:00pm, tens of demonstrators gathered in Kikar Hashabbat, to protest the prolonged arrest of demonstrators who were arrested on Tuesday.
During the demonstration, two people were arrested – an avrech who is a foreign citizen and a Jerusalem resident.
Kalmanowitz himself was released today for a home arrest of five days. In addition, he was forced to pay bail for the sum of 50,000 NIS. The conclusion of his conditions for release was reached by the police and by his attorneys.
As known, on Tuesday towards dawn, the investigators of the central unit of inquiry from the Jerusalem police, in cooperation with members of the antique authorities, raided the homes of two of the senior members of 'Atra Kadisha', searched and arrested the members. The two were suspected for trying to steal bones from an area in Messilat Zion, in which excavations are done.
Yehoshua Altman, who is considered one of the well known and senior supervisors in the organization, was released home after a few hours. But the arrest of Chezky Kalmanowitz, who is known as the strong person in the organization and the right- hand man of the organization's chairman, Hagr"d Shmidl, was prolonged by two days.
Yesterday and the previous day, demonstrations were held for their release in Meah Shearim and Kikar Hashabbat, during which six demonstrators were arrested.
In a demonstration which was held on Tuesday night, three demonstrators were arrested, among them a minor who was released the same night. Further arrested were Leibel Deitsch and Yoel Rothschild, whose arrest was prolonged until the following day, and the police intends to give in an indictment.
In a demonstration held on Wednesday night, three other demonstrators were arrested, which two others now join.
