Another blow to active organizations against the Yeshiva world: because of technical constraints, the Supreme Court will discuss their appeal against the standing of the Bnei Torah only in two months' time, in November (an exact date has not yet been fixed) and not as was originally planned to take place today (Monday). This was decided by Judge Edna Arbel.

As known, with the expiry of the Tal Law, the 'Chidu"sh' organization hurried to turn to the Finance Minister, Yuval Shteinitz, the Minister of Education, Gidon Sa'ar and the Attorney General of the government, Yehuda Weinstein, with a request to deny the Yeshivos their budget which stands on a sum of 400 million NIS a year (financing almost 60 thousand avreichim a year).

Later on, they even appealed by means of Attorney Gilad Barne'a to the Supreme Court, together with the "Free Israel" movement and former MK Roni Brizon, with a request to stop budgets of 54 thousand Yeshiva and Kollel students, starting from August, who – according to them – have lost their legal standing.

According to attorney Barne'a, although almost six months have passed, the Knesset has not done anything to pass an alternative law to the Tal Law, which will stand up to the criterion of equality which the Supreme Court has determined.

In parallel, the Movement for Quality of Government, who wished to take out orders which oblige the Defense Minister, the IDF, the Prime Minister and the Israeli government to enforce the law of security service on all Israeli citizens, appealed to the Supreme Court, in face of the expiry of the Tal Law. As said, the two appeals will be brought to discussion together in two months' time.

Members of Chidu"sh are expressing great rage about the new criteria which the Minister of Education published a few days ago, and which will enable the transfer of the current budget to Yeshiva students, despite the expiry of the Tal Law. To the organization's claim, a minimal time only has been given for objections, in order to enable the transfer the September budget to Yeshivos.

The new criteria enable budgets for those who received a postponement of service in the past. According to Chidush, "the legality of the new suggestions of criteria is very much in doubt, since it allows the transfer of money to those who are supposed to enlist and not to learn in Yeshiva".

According to the appealers' attorney, Barnea, "The government's move proves the justifiability of the appealers' claim that this is illegal budgeting." Barnea mentioned that to the best of his understanding, the change in criteria is illegal, and this is a opportunism which one has to be sorry that the Minister of Education and the Attorney General are taking part in it".

Yesterday (Sunday), Hagry"l Shteinman expressed himself and said that one has to hold continuous learning days again. "Last time when there was chizuk, Hakadosh Boruch Hu had mercy, the decree was cancelled, and 'Kadima' crashed," he said, relating to the period in which the Plesner committee was active, and according to his instruction, consecutive learning days were held in his Yeshiva, Orchos Torah. In continuation to Kadima's crash, comes the announcement of the judge today about the delay of the decision, when it is clear to all that postponement in the present situation is only for the good, and the furious responses of the appealers will testify.
