"Emes Ma Nehedar". New shull inaugurated in historic Smolensk
A new communal center and shull were inaugurated in the centre of the city of Smolensk in Russia. During the inauguration of the shull, the Sifrei Torah of the old shull were placed into the luxurious Aron Kodesh in the new one

The city of Smolensk celebrated with the inauguration of the large communal center of 'Beit Malchin' and the luxurious shull 'Beit Menachem' in the city.
The building was build next to the Kremlin Walls of the city which is more than 1100 years old.
In the event, headed by the city's Rav and Chabbad emissary, Harav Levi Yitzchok Mondshein, guests from all over the world took part. During the inauguration of the shull, the Sifrei Torah from the old shull were placed into the luxurious Aron Kodesh in the new shull.
Other participants were the ruler of the Smolensk district, Mr. Alexei Ostrovsky, mayor of the city, Mr. Nikolai Alshayev, police commanders and the president of the union of communities in Russia, Harav Alexander Barda.
The ceremony started in the afternoon with inaugurating the memorial t the front of the building by the donor Mr. Yaafim Malchin, who dedicated the center to the memory of his parents and his wife's parents. Thereafter, the VIP's were honored with cutting the band, and the Chief Rabbi of Russia was honored with affixing the Mezuzah at the central front of the luxurious building.
After the opening ceremony, the guests gathered in the shull to hear words of greetings and a prayer with the chief Chazan in the central shull of Moscow, Harav Shneur Zalman Boimgarten.
At the end of the tefillah, the large audience came out for an impressive Jewish show, at the centre of which appeared the Jewish singer Yaafim Alexandrov and his band in the communal center's yard.
Other partipitants at the impressive ceremony: Manager of "Levayev Fund" Harav David Mondshein, Rav of the city of Sertov Harav Yaakov Kovichik, Rav of the city of Brinask Harav Menachem Mendel Zakles, member of the management of the Ohr Avner Fund, Harav Shlomo Peles, many of the Rabbonim and Chabbad emissaries in the USSR, the Chassidic researcher Harav Yehoshua Mondshein, father of the city's RAv, Mashpia of the Chabbad Yeshiva in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania and father in law of the Rav, Harav Yosef Yitzchok Itkin and many members of family and friends from near and far.
During the evening, Harav Mondshein excitedly thanked all those who took part in building the house, and at their head Mr. Yaafim Malchin and R' Levi Levayev and mentioned the constant help of the Roher family Fund by the "Merkaz le'Inayanei Chinuch".
